Rossville-Alvin CUSD#7 would receive approximately $130,000 if the proposition is approved.
The items for which Rossville-Alvin would use the additional funds include
Reduce property taxes. The district would commit to using 25% of the new money for the next 3 years toward debt payment instead of levying the full amount of property tax to meet the obligation.
Preventative repairs. Sales tax money left over from property tax abatement would be used to address preventative maintenance to avoid more expensive solutions in the future. Current issues include outside lighting, parking lots, and gymnasium renovations.
Improve opportunities. The district would like to move toward one to one technology where every student has a device (ipad, chromebook) in their hands. To do so, technology infrastructure must be in place to handle the load. More wireless access points are needed. The ability to prepare students for the workforce or furthering their education is the highest priority of the school district. Technology plays a major role in the educational process.
